Starting from 3300meters at the top of Pic Blanc above the iconic French Ski resort of Alpe D’Huez, descending 25 kilometers to the valley below. 2000 competitors battle through qualification to make it to the 200-rider race down the ski slope and mountain.

As the excitement builds towards the release of our first quarterly magazine at G&T, I am sure you are all wondering what content will feature, well here’s a hint… perhaps something for the mountain bike enthusiasts! But, for now, enjoy this unreal dirt blizzard.

I look to my inside and see that I am alone. “This is it”, I tell myself and turn around to paddle. I push my chin into my board to get as much downward momentum as I can and paddle my heart out. The swell gets steeper and steeper feeling the reef, still paddling as the wave picks me up. As I get to my feet it feels like I’m on the edge of a cliff, the bottom of the wave seems a mile away…

Make sure your fitness levels are at a reasonable level and get the knees ready for a bit of strain (a walking stick will make you look fragile but you’ll be grateful for it when tackling some of the steep climbs along the way). There are also countless waterfalls and pools to be enjoyed, so make sure you’ve packed your water wings and got that beach body into shape.
