Upon receiving an invitation to attend an April destination wedding in Inhambane, Mozambique, my scuba diving yearnings immediately increased. Visions of brilliant blue warm-water currents flooded my mind.
Once upon a time dear reader, wagon trains crossed our land and the sounds of lowing oxen and the cracking of whips echoed across the vast open plains. When the shouts of the pioneers as they stopped to set up camp and erect their tents for the night broke the silence of the darkness as it quickly spread from horizon to horizon.
From tropical beaches and golden, glittering temples to wildlife, sunset boat cruises and cuisine bursting with fresh flavours – Thailand has it all. It’s a place where the warmth of the sun and Andaman sea is reflected in the locals’ welcoming smiles. It’s a place like no other.
Blue skies, warm breezes, happy tourists – they were all good signs. The other signs, posters telling of kitesurfing championships the following day, should’ve hinted at strong winds and changeable weather. We didn’t do the math.
We all dream of crystal clear blue waters and getting shacked in perfect barrels, so when the opportunity for an Indo surf trip arises it’s hard not to start dreaming of warm tropical waters and perfect waves.
